From the first commercial logo in 1787 (Twinings, FYI) to the widespread use of design platforms in 2025, design has been integral to the progress of culture and society. Each evolution has shaped how we interact with brands and how we engage with the world.

Now we’re in an era that rethinks the role of design in the context of social and environmental impact, and at MEK we’re leading the charge. We’ve evolved from a typical design studio focused on aesthetics, to the creative impact studio transforming brands into catalysts for change. Our pioneering approach combines strategic clarity, creative innovation, grassroots activism, and a future-forward vision, embedding impact at the forefront of our process and the core of our outcomes.

Evolution

When we started MEK back in 2020, we wanted to show how powerful design can be when used as a vessel of truth and beauty to communicate the most important issues of our time, as well as challenge the industry’s role in contributing to the destruction of our planet, its inhabitants, and its resources. And we did just that. Our work didn’t just offer something new, it sparked important conversations about the part we all play in these issues and how our choices impact them.

But as we’ve grown, so too has our ambition. While design will always remain at the heart of what we do, we realised that the real opportunity to make an impact lies in transforming brands as catalysts for change. That’s why we’ve focused our expertise on the three stages of change:
